Hi

I have a question, does any members know of an accurate Broadband speed test ? as i cant seem to find a decent one on the Net ?, any help appreciated, thank you.

I do occasionally get an accurate result from speedtest.net - usually not though.

Just run Speedtest . Net, i do like the interface !

With the 20meg VM connections, it often shows downloads of under 5meg - downloading from usenet confirms the connection to be over 15meg.

I have 10mg BB the close ones like Maidenhead & Dublin were above 10K but the further out ones went down as low as 4k.
Is that normal?

They rarely give accurate results on the higher Cable speeds - try either multiple Usenet downloads or a large HTTP download from someone like Microsoft using a download manager like Flashget

Actually no speed test is very accurate usage, the time of day, and many other factors can disrupt a speed test "eg" try a speed test then 10 minuets later try it again the speed reported will be different, any speed test can only be used as an approximation.
