Default sagen dbox problem

Hi,

I'll try and be specific about my hardware and software as I know how frustrating it is when people ask for help but don't say what with!

I have a Sagem dbox from Germany with the Sportster Pro 1.1 RC004 image on. It boots and loads ok, but I'm having trouble getting channels...

I have already got another similar dbox with Sportster Pro installed up and running fine using fast scan, uk6952 as the provider and everything worked more or less fine. I am assuming the 6952 refers to the symbol rate as I'm in an ex-TW area, so this was correct for me.

Now this is the second box I have got and it doesn't have a uk6952 setting that I can choose under the provider. It has a number of German cable companies and "cable bruteforce". This is the setting I have tried, with fast scan on and it searched and found a number of transponders (currently on "111/282"). Interestingly it would not let me change the settings below the provider such as the symbol rate etc as these are not selectable usinging the remote.

Update: After many hours 15 channels found that I don't recognise and all say channel error.

I don't know why it says xxx/282 for the number of transponders found whilst doing a service scan as what does the 282 refer to? Surely it can't know how many transponders there are until it finds them?

Do I need to update the services.xml file in order to give me the right settings for a UK scan and if so will it remain updated after i restart my box and what should I update it with! Is this enough, or do I need some extra key files?

Any help much appreciated!

The 282 is the number of transponders coded in the cables.xml file.

You could either transfer the services and bouquets files from your old box or even transfer the whole image over.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, it sounds like I have some options. Do you know what tools would I use to read the image from one box and write it to the other box please?

Also if I just trasfer the service files from one box to the other, will they be written to flash and hence remain intact after a power failure / reset or will the be lost on reset or power failure?

Thanks again.

Your best bet is to network the d-box. Either connect is straight to your PC with a crossover ethernet cable or through a router.

You can then generate a backup image on one box and FTP it to your PC then on to the second box. There are a few Tutorials and help files around for D-Boxes that give details on setting up networks.

Hi, I no longer have the box that I got working before. I have the Sportster Pro 1.1 image and have a working cables.xml and after a scan services.xml file that finds me channels - but they are mostly locked apart from the FTA ones and some like sky premier and one or two adult ones.

I assumed my key file was wrong and I have copied a known working key file from an older sportster version called autoupdate.key but no change even after powering down the box and back up again. Should this file have a different name like autoroll.key or will Sportster recognise anything in the /keys/ directory?

Try this image Sportstar 1.10 rc 007 2X. it has got all the settings you will get the option to choose the cable service provider with the symbol rate 6952. it works fine. you can upload whole of the image in seconds using IFA software available in download area. if you need the image i hope lincsat will be able to provide you this image as i got it from "BigMaqs".
Cheers

Hi Lincsat, are you able to set me up with access to the downloads area as none of the 3 links in the FTA area work - all lead to page cannot be found and possibly the Sportstar 1.10 rc 007 image javed kindly mentions too please??

I have had a quick look through the top of my box and it looks like an Intel x1 chip, so I assume I would need the 1xl version of Sportster 1.1 rc 007 - if such a thing exists...?

Again and help is very much appreciated!

Hi,

i just thought I'd say I can now access the downloads properly - I have ZoneAlarm Pro installed and it was blocking the download area as a spysite! Have disabled it and all is well.

Thought I’d share this in case anyone else has problems…

Its available in the download section. Look for private fta under UK Cable section and read the first two sticky's on how to access.
