Default Re: Networking problem

I tried using their driver scanner, amongst the drivers it said I needed was an AMD chipset driver - this PC is all Intel. It also said there was an update to the July 26th NVidia display driver that is the latest one on the NVidia website - I can download it for $6.95! It also claims the driver I downloaded from the Realtek site yesterday is out of date.

Whilst it is a very useful resource, I'm sceptical about paying for updates when I've already got the latest releases off the relevant manufactures websites.

Hi Lincsat

In your first post in this thread you wrote
Quote:
All PC's have XP on them and all are setup the same with sharing folders allowed and all have the same Mcafee firewall with the LAN totally trusted.
So why don't you use one of your other XP Pro SP2 Disks to load this problem computer but use the original serial key for this Computer "i take it there all XP Pro Microsoft release?" this works and its legal as you own all your OS`s for each Computer, save all these problems, and if your using a mix of Home and Pro just make sure you use the one that matches "eg" if the problem Computer has XP Pro SP2 you need to load XP Pro SP2 from a matching Disk but use the Problem OS Key. As for the on board Lan just install a NIC card there cheep ! bypass the on board.

The problem computer had an OEM version of XP MCE on it, it would not accept the OEM serial on the sticker or my VLK serial regardless of which disk I used to upgrade or repair. I had to format before it would even do a "full installation".

I already have a second NIC installed in a PCI slot to communicate with my D-Box, the last slot on the mobo has a TV Card in it (that shipped with the PC) I may replace that with a wireless card to connect to my other network.
