Default Connectivity Question from a n00b.

Hey, cool site.

Basically I'm very interested in getting a Eurovox, heard alot about them and we used to have one for cable's analogue system when I was much younger.

Anyway, I'm currently on 2MB Virgin broadband but have NO TV subscription, but as well as this I also have a wire still in the living room where the Cable ANALOGUE service used to be. This is from the analogue service and has never had a cable/telewest/virgin digital signal down it.

Basically, is that wire likely to be still live? (I have no way of checking it as we no longer have the set-top-box) but if I remember when we cancelled the subscription they left the basic package on there for months after.

I hear that if you have a wire you can still get freeview? If so is it possible to just put a Eurovox on there and get every channel?
Or do you have to subscribe to the basic Virgin digital package?

I do have Virgin broadband as I said earlier, its 2MB and I've had it about 5 years.

Will I be able to run a Eurovox from that? and if so what wire would I need to go from the box to the connection in the wall where the broadband cable comes from? And will i experience any loss of speed when I'm connected to the internet?

Sorry theres alot there, if anyone could answer these questions it would be highly appreciated,

Thanks.

you can use a splitter on your broadband connection and run the box and broadband at the same time... you wont loose no broadband speed.. you can check you other connection by putting a rf adapter on the f connector of the cable and plug it into your tv aerial socket... if you can pick up the five tv channels ie: bbc1/bbc2/itv/channel4/and channel five the line is active
