yesterday i was messing about with the coaxial cable in the Grey box outside so i could get fimilar with the wires as i purchased a splitter from Ebay. Since taking my active broadband connection off and attaching my old cable connection to see if it would work downstairs i received a message saying Telewest is temporary unavailable and they are sorry etc. so i thought that it was a problem's with that old cable wire so i did the following disconnected the old wire but my active broadband connection on securely closed the box and took the box upstairs where the PC is via broadband. Before i used to connect the broadband wire to the box it used to work perfectly now i get this message saying the Virgin media is temporary unavailable. I don't know what has happen can anyone help me or have you experience the same problem.
replies are welcomed thanks zeeb340 |

where have you put the splitter ?
you are better putting it as close to the cable tv receiver and make sure your coax cable is trimed right then if still not working try a booster get on with a gain knob on it so you can turn signal up or down |

The reason you are getting that message is because you have dissed (tech talk) the connection somewhere, and from what I can see there was no signal to the old wire (from the ISP) and so there would still not be one on your new wire that you connected....its difficult without seeing inside your outside box to know whats wrong at the moment, but it looks to me as if you have managed somehow to disconnect something ....you now have two alternatives....go back into the outside box and check thoroughly that all wires are connected securely ...or call out the Telewest engineers to sort out ....as an aside you shouldnt really be going into those outside boxes by the way unless you know what you are doing, and if you do call out the engineers they will be able to tell if you have been messing,
and then depending on how friendly the engineer is,depends on whether you get charged or not ....it could be of course that co-incidentally a genuine fault has occured somewhere away from the house...anyway best of luck and let us know how things go ... |

i found out the fault. the problem was that i connected the wire which connected from my tv to the box in the same slot when it was working so i took the wire and placed it in the TV ant slot Bang it started to work. It was an easy problem then first relised
but thanks for all your help Guys Zeebo340 |
