Default Total EUROVOX novice...plz help

I haven't got a clue about Eurovox. First heard of it on a football forum but they didn't go into much details so i don't know much about it. Looked on the net for advice with not much success but come to you guys for help! I am thinking of buying one off eBay, or any other recommended places. Eurovox seems to be popular.
At home, i have a basic Virgin freeview box and Sky digital box in separate rooms downstairs and upstairs, i have ntl broadband modem but i want to use the Eurovox downstairs. Going through some of the threads, i don't think i've read a post with a person who has used a Virgin FREEVIEW box for the Eurovox, so i really don't know whether my freeview box would suffice. So couple of questions that need answering plz!

What else do i need apart from the Eurovox box?
What is the best version of Eurovox?
From what i've read on forums, some people are having various problems with the Eurovox Max, would i be better off getting an older version?
Why do i need a RS232 lead?
I don't think you can use Sky but can i use the NTL freeview box?
If not, can i install wireless internet connection in the house and use the Eurovox downstairs via the wireless connection, if so how?
I've read some stuff on the use of 'splitters' but still confused, why would i need a splitter to the freeview box/modem?

I really appreciate any help you could give me, thanks!

Steve

thanks mate. Could i use my Virgin FREEVIEW box for the Eurovox???
If so, i don't think i would need a splitter to send a signal back because its only a FREEVIEW box so i don't think Virgin would care if i wasn't using it.
I don't think i've any posts where ppl have used the Virgin FREEVIEW box. I've got NTL/Virgin broadband connection but thats upstairs!

cheers for that, definitely made things simpler for me. From what i understand, you get only the channels that Virgin offer so i won't get Sky one than??? no more LOST!

Yeh i suppose but it just ain't the same! Hate it when Sky thieve the good shows after terrestrial channels use them for a year and show how popular they are!
Been through ebay, some have included 'F to Coax adapter' and a 'RS232 lead', do you know what they are used for?

F to Coax changes the end connector of the cable from a screw-on (F) to a push-in (coax) - just like the end of your aerial coax that you push in to your TV. The RSR232 is for updating your box with new software via your computer (it must be an 'null' cable however -same fittings as a RS232 but slightly different wiing arrangement inside)

Cheers Rick
