Newbie with Digivox 2007 cable decoder.

hello everyone out there.

no doubt someone has shared my experience and I can learn from this.
I've a digivox 2007 which I've had for 5 trouble free months as I could call upon the occasional help of my now ex-neighbour.

Im receiving virgin media cable and find the only real problem I have is an intermittent picture freeze / scrambled channel problem with the appropriate notice on screen for about 20 secs .Problem disappears and broadcast resumes with this recurring every 20 -30 mins and on no channel in particular. Very annoying when watching live sport !

My understanding is that there is a routine fix in the form of an 'update'. My box came without software and I've no experience of making such adjustments so I'm looking to get some understanding of the basics and pointed in the right direction .
