Default eurovox 4:3 question

on a widescreen tv how does the picture look like. does it look stretched or are there black bars on the side of the screen to make it look 4:3?

i dont mind it i cant get proper widescreen pic as long as it fills the whole of my tv. if i set the box to 4:3 will it fill the whole of my widescreen tv, or will i get black lines each side of the screen? or will the picture just be stretched horizontilly? if this is the case i can just change some setting my tv to fill up the whole screen.
pls let me know guys

i have a 42" plasma with the black box eurovox.mine is set to full screen in the settings and you only miss a tiny bit of writing that is easy to put up with.

Hi Tekka,

I suspect the black bars you get in some movies are due to the aspect ration being more wide than usual rather the DBox2 not adjusting to the correct ratio.

i.e. if the DBox2 is set to receive widescreen broadcasts (16:9), then if a film is broadcast at 2.35:1, you will see black bars - I hope this assumption is correct!

Anyway, I've just purchased a DBox2 on the net, and hope it will provide the correct widescreen broadcasting!

Hi there Steve,

I've just ordered a DBox2 from germany... according to the seller, it's a debug mode, ready for UK etc... so just waiting for delivery

Now that I think i've got a live feed from the box in the wall, is it a case of just plugging it in, and scanning? is there any signal sent back to cable provider?

one of the reasons Dbox2 won me over the Eurovox 2008 was because it offered "proper" 16:9. is this option easily enabled?

One more question (sorry!), is there a place i can get a manual for the Nokia Dbox2?

Ta!

My friend has Sony 50" Bravia, widescreen channels such as bbc1, bbc2, sky sports etc., will have a black bar (when using Eurovox) unless he puts the screen in his tv options to "zoom". Then the picture becomes normal widescreen with no distortion etc. So it's very easy to set it to widescreen if you have a great tv.
