Talking NEW 2008 Eurovox MAX V

Hi There,

I'm new to this, but having read some of the threads, i was very impressed...

I'm looking to purchase a "NEW 2008 Eurovox MAX V" from e-bay, to try out at my home...

Whilst I don't have "cable" per se, the previous residents had it, and the cables seem intact. Do you think it is worth purchasing this box to see if my cables are alive?

I do intend to subscribe to a basic package, but want to see what it's like.

Any advice on setting this up will be greatly appreciated.

Regards.

I dont see how you are going to know if this feed is still alive, seen several posts that have done what you want to do and have been lucky, but on the other hand it may well be dead ...so you take a chance .....since you say you are going to subscribe to cable at sometime I think its worth taking the chance anyway....its definitely worth buying the box,its a super piece of kit in my opinion and well worth the money....if you want to know of a 100% guaranteed seller on Ebay email me your addy and will give you the name of one (dont post your addy on here)...

Hi There,

Indeed I do have a white box on the wall, and I tried to run a lead into the ariel socket but the cable heads are different to the ariel input of my TV.

I'll see if i can convert it so that the cable coming out of the white box on the wall will fit into my TV, but my questions on this are:

* Should I put the TV on analogue reception or Freeview receiption to see if bbc1 etc is visible

* Why would the cable feed give me any channels if I don't have box to plug into?

As ever, many thanks for answering my newbie questions!

Ta!

Hi Bitwabbly, thank you for your post, but i didn't ask about widescreen (at least i don't think i did )

That said, intresting to hear that there is no widescreen on Eurovox, because my TV is widescreen... I wonder how to get around this...

Thanks

You have to play around with both the Eurovox aspect ratio (only 4:3 or letterbox) and the same on your TV. You will get either black bands or a stretched picture. However don't let this put you off an excellent piece of kit for the price.

Hi There!

Yep, I plugged the cable from the white box into my TV's analogue tuner, and was able to tune BBC1, 2, ITV, C4 and Five!

I guess that must mean the feed is live?

I found a seller of a DBOX2 in germany, that has " LINUX NEUTRINO - DEBUG MODE" and plug and play for cable tv in UK or Ireland
2 x Intel flash - AVIA 500.

Would this work on cable provider then?

One last question... sorry i'm a really newbie! ... Does the DBOX2 really provide true widescreen broadcasts!

Thanks all! great forum.
