Default New Vista Update

Supposedly speeds up Vista, although it's had mixed reports. I'm not using Vista so can't comment.

Hi

I have installed Vista Home Premium as a dual boot to XP Pro SP2, its a bit clunky but I'm working on trimming it down and speeding it up, sorted the overblown security via reg hacks and its running a lot quicker, once trimmed down Vista is quite nice

Hi Tee

I have been tweaking my Vista so i will post a few things that will speed up Vista in this thread for you

Turn off Windows Search Indexing

Windows Vista search indexing is constantly reviewing files on your system to make their contents available for quick searching. This is handy, but can severely impact system performance, to disable this constant indexing -

1) Click Start then Computer 2) Right Click the C: Drive 3) On General Tab, Uncheck Index this drive for faster searching, 4) On the subsequent dialog box, Select Include subfolders and files.

Ann

Edit I'm thinking we could have this as a sticky that members running Vista can add to, what do you think ?
