Thanks for that link jimbo, i had a 40001n with a duff reader, i snipped the old double decker reader off with small side cutters, desoldered the links one at a time, i used some desoldering wick to clean out the holes in board, clipped in new reader holder and resoldered links. and it works a treat.

Thanks for the link mate, and its good to know some got it working (thanks red) mine is a double reader also, and it has these metal wires coming up (attached to reader) from the circuit board.

I'm gonna have to cut them right ? but how long do I leave them ?? Please give me some advice, cause you've done it successfully before.

Thanks mate

Just snip them short, theres a plastic bit on bottom that holds them all together i just cut them down to that. Remove sim card, undo screws in back plate and 4 bolts for 25 and 9 pin sockets, remove back plate, undo screws in board and remove board, its easier if you take tuner off as well. If you havnt got an antistatic mat an old trick is to touch a radiator or water pipes to get rid of static, be carefull with those sim cards as well dont ever clean contacts by rubbing on sleeve or clothing, use a rubber or fibreglass pen.I used a 25w iron with a small point tip.

if you buy a new reader and place it on the underside of the board you should see what pins you need to desolder think its 10 its been that long since i done one, but if its your reader at fault, it fixs the prob.
