Hi all

Right I managed to take out the old card reader, but I'm stuck somewhere, how do you insert the little pins on the new card reader into the holes (with solder in).

I heat one hole in order to push the pin in, but as soon as I move the iron it goes back solid again, how do you guys do it ?? Do you use a butane pen ??

You clean the holes out first, i used desoldering wick, if you havnt got any use copper wire twisted so it will poke through hole , the solder will soak into wire.

What about afterwards ! is it easy to re-solder them on nicley, like they were before ??

yes easy enough, just be careful you dont bridge anywhere, just take your time cleaning the holes and refitting the new reader.

Yes keep the tip clean and wet with solder (tinned) and apply iron and just a touch of solder, it should be really quick, otherwise you will overheat and melt the plastic.

They said it'll take 2 to 3 weeks for them to get some more !!

Anyone know of different places where I can buy a Card Reader ?
