Hi tekka84
As your DVD Rom is not showing in Device Manager you will need to disconnect it manually (unplug power and IDE cables) from the drive boot the PC then shut it down reconnect the cables and boot up (i take it your on XP) Windows will remake new drivers, if this action dose not work please post back as we may have to reboot the BIOS or introduce a registry alteration Ann

Hi,
As my laptop is still under the 1yr warranty i dont really want to open her up incase the dvd is broke and i can get it fixed for free (if it was a desktop it would be no problem). btw im running vista home premium but i dont think its a driver issue because its not showing in the bios.that right?? |

The DVD could have a circuit board problem or you may need to reboot the BIOS but as its under warranty i should take it back to the shop / store and it should be fixed free

Guess what ! !
seems the rom had somehow become dislodged from its housing (wasnt slotted in properly)slid it back home firmly & all is fine.looks like a bit of a design flaw. |

there is an other thing yo can Try. go into The Control Pannel and Add/Remove Devices. and Manually add your DVD Rom. it should resolve the Problem if DVD Player is still conected with the laptop.
