Default Connecting a Eurovox box??

Hi all,

Very new to all this, and new to the country (kind of)

Currently have been watching good old freeview, and only just read about StarView and Eurovox.

Question is .. how would I connect it? I dont want to buy a ~£100 box to find out I cant connect it / the cable plugs in the walls are just there for good looks

I guess it needs a cable connection coz its broadband, and it (correct me if I am wrong) allows you to view cable channels without a subscription .. but how does one know if the cable plugs in the wall are active and going to work with the box?

Also .. what kind of channels can you get? Does it basically play EVERYTHING :S

Much appreciated, and I hope this hasnt been asked over and over ad nauseum

If you have a cable outlet in your house (usually a small white box with 2 screw type connectors)you can check if its LIVE by running a cable from it to the back of your tv.if you can get the normal bbc1 bbc2 ect you have a live box.

You get ALL the sky channels plus more.

Thanks for the fast reply!

We have that box, I have had Foxtel (cable) in Oz, so I knew what the cable box on wall looked like, but good to know its most likely live

Might have to get some cable to see if it works, but where would it plug into the TV? TV has coax connection, but doubt it has the other one .. whatever thats called .. the screw into the wall type :S

Either get an Ftype connector (it screws on to the screw end)or just cut off the screw end and fit a standard aerial tye connector.

Whoah .. its that easy? Screw it onto the end and it plugs into normal coax aerial? Thats awesome!

Hi there,

Back with more questions

Got Eurovox delivered today .. guy I bought it off said if I find the wall plug is not live, he will refund .. fingers crossed.

Anyway, I hooked it up like this ..

1) From wall socket (white box with 2 screw type plugs) I put an adapter on, which Maplin state as "Coax Skt to F Plug" .. it has the little wire piece that screws into the wall socket, and on the other end it has the coax female connector

2) connect coax cable and ran from wall socket to back of Eurovox

3) Hooked it all up to TV (scart etc) .. all good

4) when going to scan channels, it says "Level" and "Quality" are at 8 on the scale. I guess this means REALLY weak .. and its not picking up any channels

5) There are some channels listed, about 27 or so after a scan (as described in supplied instructions), but they all have low level and quality, between 3 and 8. Shouldnt these be "un-scannable" if their quality is unwatchable?

So yeah .. Im stuck there .. the channels are listed, but you cant scroll through them on the Eurovox at all, it says there are no channels.

Help please Im thinking its just a little to non-existent signal :'( Which means no outside sat or something. I guess to get one of them connected is big money??

Sorry .. no idea :S Im trying to figure this out (kind of) myself.

As far as I knew, if you have a live socket (dont know if I do as the only channels I get if I connect to TV are REALLY fuzzy / low signal) and a box, you can get all the channels.

I cant get any though, and not many replies so Im kind of in a hole. Going to spend a bit of time tomorrow going through a few suggestions in other threads on this forum, and if I work it out Ill be happy as a pig in shit3.

I don't quite understand. If you have a cable installation where are you getting AOL from?
You need a live cable feed to use one of these boxes.

I have 2 threads going now

Initially I was told as long as you have a live wall socket, it should work, even though I explained I didnt have cable broadband or TV connected.

Arghhhhh ..
