Hi Steve

Reboot your Computer and keep tapping the F8 key, this will take you to Advanced Options Menu use the arrow keys on your key board and go to last known good configuration that worked then press Enter your Computer will reboot now see if you can access system restore, please post back if you cant access system restore.

Hi Steve

You did all the work Steve well done, at this stage with your system running a it should its a good idea to take the time to make a full backup of your C: partition with the software you have, as it can save a lot of time and save you having to reinstall Windows, i make a full backup of my OS on all my Computers each Sunday with the same software you have, its a good safe guard

Well I got a similar problem, I had a system recovery programme at my Hp compaq laptop. Therefore i press the restore button and restore to yesterday's information. But after it reboot the system and restart back, it says that the restore is incomplete, no changes has been made on the settings. What does it means? Does it means that i did not changed any settings at all or does it mean that the restore point itself failed to restore the laptop? But if i put 32 bit before i save the restore point and after i save the restore point and I put the resolution to 16 then restore again, it should be back to 32 bit resolution right?

Hi jamini

Maybe you are getting false information, try a System Restore in safe mode (i take it your OS is XP ?), boot your PC and keep taping F8 key this will take you to (Windows Advanced Options Menu) with your arrow keys go to Safe Mode press Enter / Return then you have a choice to continue in Safe Mode or use System Restore (little test put an Icon / Short cut from any program on your Desktop before you use System Restore).

Ann
How do I make a full backup of my C drive, also I was thinking of getting an external hard drive to use as a backup for large files how easy is it to make a complete copy of my C & D hardrive partitions.
Oh any reccomendations for a good but reasonabally priced external hard drive?

Cheers hun.

Hi

I use ATI 10 (Acronis True Image v10) on all of my Computers and i backup my C: partition "25GB" to last partition on my second internal HDD on PC 1 and 2, 3 and 4 are backed up to an external HDD, if i have a major problem with my OS i can just reinstall the backup partition, easy !.
External HDDs I use two Seagate's 500GB i find Seagate reliable "but this is just my personal choice"
