Question Video Senders +Remote Remotes for Pace/VM

Dear All,

Did a search and couldn't find this topic (was a bit in Eurobox but I need Pace) .. so can you help please.

Have VM into house via white box .... I want to split that signal and put half of it into my old Pace Box to send to back of house other half into Eurovox (just got it, really good ... so far ... films, everything).

But I don't want to run 15-20m of cable from front to back so can you recommend a Sender that will work on VM and Pace (preferably a scart one) so I can get the picture on TV at back of house (away from wife) and one that will let me control the box via my Pace/NTL remote.

Lots of Senders out there but understand their can be some issue about frequencies they use, won't recognise cable remote signals and so on. Sure some of you are doing this ... hence the question.

Cheers
M

Lightbulb Re: Video Senders +Remote Remotes for Pace/VM - Some Q and Some A

Dear All,

I think I can now answer some of my own questions ... but welcome confirmation from you experienced people ...

The problem with Pace (but not, I think, other cable boxes???) is that that it has a funny system for the remote using IrDA .... which means that it can have a Video Sender but you still have to go back to the box to change channels ..... ok if you're sat watching soccer I guess but a pain if you want to see what else is on.

Solution 1: Get Digisender Gold at about £120 .... good piece of kit and with other benefits but a big price.

Solution 2. Get a basic sender for the output and a seperate piece of kit (e.g. Red Eye) for the remote, package still turns out around £100 when all is done.

Solution 3: Say, sod it, and run 20m of cable to the back of the house, drill holes, etc. and forget the wireless option. Still about £40 but a better price ..... downside ... can only habve the point where you have put the cable to end at .... with wireless can move it elsewhere (plus do you lose much picture quality on a long cable run with a 2 way splitter???)

Solution 4: Something called Total Control available via Argos ... think it is £40 (need to check) but am not entirely sure it does the remote bit well .... some say it does????

Anybody else have any answer before I wreck the house and/or waste cash?

Cheers
M

Cheers Steve, where do you pick up the 3 way booster ... haven't seen 'em on ebay .... but then again have had my brain in video sender "search mode" so may have just passed me by.

Plus did you cable through the house? I will have to go external and am wondering if the cable will have a problem with the weather .... if so will have to trunk it (more cost/more pain). ant knowledge on what the cable can cope with??

cheers

Cheers Steve .... looks like I need to get the kids and missus out of the house, get out the big drill bit and make some alterations.

Like the idea of wireless but not the £100 price tags.

Hope I can help you out one day ... if I ever understand what the h*ll it is I am doing!

See ya
Mike
