Exclamation 20 Meg move, please help !

Hi all

Right I just got my 250 Modified Modem (20MB/s Speed)..thanks Lincsat . Now I'm basically stuck, I don't know where to go from here. I am a subscribed customer (2MB) with VMedia.

What do I do next in order to get the 20Meg going, please help I know plugging in the modified Modem won't work unless I do stuff to it.

Please, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I see you've asked for a MAC swap that's a start, do you know anyone local (but not too close) that is on VM and could run DHCPForce and get some MAC's for you - you could also try using their MAC (look underneath the modem).

Then you connect up the modem, use the configuration tool and write the settings to the modem then you're away

Hi Lincsat

I've Run DHCP Force since yesterday, and so has my friend. It has come up with 600 MACs, but none of the found MACs have a Config Filename that corresponds to a 20Meg, Most of them are [cmreg-ntlhm120-light.cm (2Meg)].

Are you saying I could use MACs found by my friend on his computer that have config filename [cmreg-ntlhm120-light.cm] which is 2MB to get 20Meg ????????

Ohh my friend is in a different sector than me by the way !

Please help

Thanks Lincsat

Thanks Tee I have now downloaded the Configurator Tool for the 250 Modems.

Right say I'm gonna be using my friend's MAC who is on a different sector than me. What info do I put into the configurator for Username, password, Config File, TFTP IP, Force Cfg/ Telnet Enabled, Tuner Type, Max DL Tries, Annex Mode, DS Freq and Admin status ??

My friend is subscriped to 2Meg braodband from VMedia.

Thanks

Open the configuration program and connect to read existing settings from the modem, all you need to change is the MAC address (use any active even 2meg) and TFTP server address (get that from DHCPForce), then write them back to the modem.

Unhappy Re: 20 Meg move, please help !

Guys It didn't work !!!!

Right here is what I did:

I connected the modified modem to the co-axial cable and gave it power, then I went back to my PC and ran the configuration tool. I then click [Connect] and the fields all filled (at the bottom it said ONLINE in green).

So.. I changed the MAC that was in there with my friend's MAC and I put his IP address in the field (TFTP IP) and I click [Write Settings] after that at the bottom it said: {Settings Updated, Rebooting Modem} and that is it. It stays on that for ages, and I try Internet and it is not working !!!

Could you please please help

Hi guys

I got it working, Thanks for all your help

I've got a question though, Can I cancel my subscription to the 2MB and still have internet with the patched modem ?

Now that I'm using a different MAC, would VMedia know ? in the guide there was something called SMAC that would stop the company from detecting me, is this true ?

thanks guys
