Hi Annabel .... tried a speed test at broadband genie and got various speeds from 1.3mb (a one off) to 200-400kbps.
The went to speedtester.bt and it said the following .... "Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.IP profile for your line is - 7000 kbps DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8096 kbps(DOWN-STREAM) Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 5040 kbps If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP. If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance." So they say 5mb but i get 50-60kb for DLs!? Mike ![]() |

Ok Mike at the back of the Hub you will see (Wireless Association) and a little button press that in and count to 30 slow this will reboot the Hub and reset all to default (note you may need to reload software), but first just try this cut power to the hub and disconnect all cables inc the power leave it for 3 mins and reconnect and try.
Ann ![]() Edit - OK Mike i will be here about 6.30 - 7 pm because im at the Gym after work so see you then, Ann X

Hi Annabell, definitely go to go now but sorry to say that neither one worked:
switched of hub, took out all cables, left for 5 mins or more ... but downloads still slow then pressed wireless association for over 30secs but still slow DLs BUT web pages are very quick (always have been ... but seem even quicker) its just the DLs. Night-Night ![]() Mike |

Hi Anna
Kids playing up .... so can't do many tests tonight and liable to disappear off if they start bawling (actually, they're not too well so not their faults). Spoke to BT again and they keep insisting that their line is fine and is providing around about 5 or 6 meg actual speed. But when I try to download I am getting an 80th or 100th of that ..... but my computer works fine/quite well for opening webpages. So, could there be something on my computer that stops/slows downloads e.g. could I have downloaded and have running a program that is making that happen? I have run my virus check and that is fine .... and BT did say thay checked my computer via remote access and they could find nothing wrong that would prevent DLs ... but am at a loss. Cheers Mike ps I have no idea what should or shouldn't be running but my cpu usage fluctuates from 4-10% with highs of 15% and lows of 1% (just had a blip of 45%) does any of this mean anything? |
