Default Re: All Nthell Channels & Frequencies (ireland)

Have done that, still nothing. Even powerscanned from 0 - 900 on 6887.

I suppose the next step would be to bypass the distribution box and plug it straight into the main feed cable?

Update ~ I brought it down to a mates and plugged it in. Staright away it started to update and soon I had all the channels up and running. Back home now and it is 'Searching for signal'. I guess the new distribution box and/ or the wiring is the problem.

Thanks for your help.

Looks that way. But as you have scanned it elsewhere, you will have the 13 TPs. Press menu, installation, user installation and post what it says for the average signal level/quality on each.

There is nothing at all in showing in the Quality bar. Not a percentage or a red bar to be seen.

Then it looks like your connection is dead. You can hardly call out the CC unless you pay subs. Recommend you pay for the basic package and then it will be rectified. Confusion lies in the fact that in your OP you said that the pipe is distributed around the house and you were watching TV. Hence I assumed it was live?

It is live. This is freaking me out now!!

The set-up is -----

TV/ DVDRecorder/ EV Box.

Cable from wall via approx 6m coax** to EV.

EV scarted to DVDRecorder.

DVDRecorder scarted to TV.

EV coaxed to TV.

As is, I can watch the TV but when I change to the scart ch to view the EV, I get 'searching for signal'.

** Which I now think is the problem, DOH.

I see. As per my previous reply above. Just plug the EV into the direct feed where it enters the house, i.e. no splitters etc. Your set up does indeed seem to be the problem.

BTW from you set up your should have three scart connections :

TV to EV
TV to DVD
DVD to EV

Also put a coaxial cable from DVD to EV VCR socket. Incoming CC coax to cable in on the back of the EV.

I see what you mean but I would add that this has been the set-up since I got it with no problems. It is only since the new distribution box was installed that I am having this problem. Would the make or specifications of the new box or how it was wired be causing such a loss in signal strenght?

As I am sharing a house and the distribution box is needed to split the signal to the various rooms, what are my options?

By the way, I appreciate this must be considered level one cable problems for you, thanks for your patience!

I see. I would check all your cabling set up at the TV for any loose connections. As it looks as if the connection is live, (you can watch all channels)? But not via the EV.

Try as I said above take the DVD out of the equation and plug the EV into your feed and then to the TV. Tell me what the resulting signal quality/levels are then.

Have stripped it down to -----

Cable into EV, EV scarted to TV.

Quality is 2%.

Sounds like you are disconnected at the amp or tap.
