Alex and everyone

Am no expert but have been looking at this myself .... how about an AV Sender rather than hard cable .... costs more but sends the signal to wherever you put the box ... so you could change your mind later.

Basically 2 bits .... one that sends your AV output ... these are relatively cheap BUT you probably also want to use the remote and that is where it gets tricky. Old NTL/Telewest have a special remote signal which means only a very few AV senders work (Digisender Gold DG400 is one and perhaps? Total Control - buy it at Argos). However, I don't know if this problem still apllies to Eurovox (I have an old Pace Box and Eurovox and am trying to find out as I too am not keen on the whole wall drilling activity).

Hope that helps .... see if the experts on here can offer any comment .... but cable is far cheaper but limits future changes. (say £15 all told) v around £70 for a new Gold from EasyLife.

Either way have fun and your mother will never know.

Mike

Yep, can happen as it depends on the frequencies you are using for different things (i.e. everything on a similar freq interferes). However, if you get one with multi channel options then you change the sender/receiver channels until you get one that works in your environment (mobiles, wireless broadband, etc.)

I'm looking at ones with 8 or more channels to avoid the problem.

Upside, you can move em to any tv anywhere ... and it you get multiple outlets you can also run DVD players, etc. from the one device.

Not saying they are the only answer (prefer hard cable myself) but when hole dilling and cabling is gonna look a mess/cause aggro then these are an alternative.

Anyone else had one?

Cheers
Mike

Cheers Mike and Steve. The AV sender doesnt look to good for my budget. £90 for a small piece of equipment. Thats how much im paying for the Eurovox. I think though if I got it Hard Wired then I have a dedicated Cable line into my bedroom. and if i want to move the cable modem. Which would of been ideal along time ago.
Yer I think ill go for the hard wired version. Does any one no a site that sells NTL/Virgin cable? (What ever the name is these days)
Does anyone also know where i can get the little white box that goes on the inside of the wall?
Thanks

Go for it ... hard wire is best if you can get around making the holes.

Search on Kenable for the cables, splitters, etc. and buy from his shop as it is cheaper than the stuff he has on ebay.

Don't know if he does the white box. Email and ask him.

Have fun
Mike

Or try the shop - Lincsat's Nick-nacks (Shop)

Hey again.
Ive just remembered. Since we used to have Sky I had a sky link installed in my bed room. So this is a standard coax cable. So the cable from my room goes downstairs into the Sky box. Would i be able to pull this cable back through the wall to the outside and run the cable to a splitter in the Omnibox outside. Its only like a meter away from the box.
Would this work okay?
All i would have to do is change the ending on the cable so it could connect to the splitter. Yes?

Just a thought that could work.

P.S. Oooo also how easy is it to fit a Cable Connecter to a reel of cable. Do you need a crimper. I no with standard Aerial fittings you can just tighten it up and hey presto. How bout Satellite/Cable connections.

you could use cable that had been used for sky, the f-connecters just screw on to the cable of course you need to bare it like an ordinary old areil fitting.

Right okay. Well since the cable had been orginally coaxal cable then it will be bared already. So that should be cushty. So they just screw on and no need for a crimp tool?

if you don't put the conector on right you will loose loads of signal so be careful don't let the outer touch the inner wire
