i dont get why you cant use a com port to do this, there must be a way around it im also surprised that this wouldnt work (see below) as technically it turns your port into a printer port if you dont have one

wont work in serail m8----needs bios on pc to have printer port set to ----lpp i think dont qoute me though---its the 1 that acepts more advanced connections though.....

if u wanna build your own jtag check out fta 101 downloads ---theres a revsied diagram that deffo works as thats what i did---after i built the 1 that had a wire worng so make sure u get the revised 1-----if it dont work--it was only wires 3-4 on the printer port end needed swapping.........................so not a full rebuid!

i have posted about this myself sdomewhere on here..................as red diesel told me about revised 1??

if u have solder an iron u can get bits for under a fiver from maplins---------------
i also build a max 233 bit dearer to build cuz a chip was dearer diarams in fat haynes guide?

rather than using pogo pins -----when i made my jtag i used telephone wire 6-core [stb end],
solid core that can be pushed into hole in stb when sodler point has been heated a little, then when done just snip wires, making sure none can touch obviously.........

all the info u need guys his right here ........if u read in tech watch i mean,.,

easy and cheap------whay spend 20+ when u can do it for a few quid......
