Noob Uncapped NTL 250

Bought an RS232MAX cable from ebay.

The cable feed was screwed on so damn tight nearly killed the modem getting it off. (steady the other side of the feed with pliars btw.)

Followed the Ambit 250 Ultimate guide step by step, problems I had:

1. You need to press p extremely quickly when you boot up the modem with the RS232 cable connected otherwise you get the "console is disabled by vendor profile" message.
2. The type in your DS frequency bit, didn't have a clue. Luckly I had the tutorial video which entered 331000000. Unfortunatly this was wrong, the value I needed is 586750000 (ntl NE37) this must have been autodetected because I didn't do it.
3. Used the mac address from the sticker on my modem.
4. USB mac address 1 higher than modem mac even though my modem dont have usb.
5. TFTP server address, used DHCP Force.

Thats it, think I got the guide off emule or torrent, now have about 15mb. Don't plan to abuse it either just mainly get maps quicker for ut2004. It's always good to learn!

PS. Send and Receive lights don't appear to work anymore.

you could a built a max 232 for about 3 quid a 233 for about a 5er with solder

mine auto deteced freq' ,
but what you say about console disabled, in my experience if u get this message you need to lift chip in modem [no easy feet]

and no ammount of pressing 1 2 or p quickly when you first turn on will help you.... your modem either has not been changed , that is the idea of disabling the console output[usually happens if plugged in to feed before being flashed], so people cant flash them???
if im wrong let me know!! as i have several with console disabled!!!
