Default DBox 1 help please

i have just aquired a dbox 1 that i am trying to sort out for my mother lol

how do i update the image on it? all the tuts i have read say that a crossover cable a a null modem cable is needed i have both of these but the connection on the back of the dbox is not an RJ45 it is the smaller connection so how do i do it i cannot flashfxp to it because once again i have no way of connecting it to my network,

A d-box 1 is totally different to the d-box 2. So long as it's got an open bootloader, you can load updated firmware (using a serial cable), but you need a patched CAM to be able to watch UK cable, you do still need to use a card as well.
