hey everyone i know basic info about dboxes now and I hav found one on ebay: Eurovox Max V 2008. do you guys think this is a good one to buy? thanks

The description amuses me - it's the latest just released in July 2007 version, yet they claim it's been Auto-updating for 18 Months without a software change

I believe there has been 2 or 3 EV software releases this year - that said, the updates do appear within a few days and the receivers do appear to be simple to setup despite them not having proper widescreen switching.

although there have been a few updated f/w's for the eurovox units its been nothing to do with auto updating keys as friends of mine still have eurovox 1 and 2 as well as max's and they have been auto updating for well over 2 1/2 years...

There were a lot of posts at the end of May from Eurovox owners who had lost encrypted channels when the keys stopped Auto-updating and needed the June firmware upgrade to get their channels back.

i assume it must have been corrupt f/w or user error or they would all have went down.

Eurovox Max v 2008 got mine last wk, love it if u can love a box and no worries to set up and every channel i can receive is unblocked.
