Default Nikon CoolPix 8800

I love this camera! The addition of the selection wheel for access to the many features this camera was definately a plus for me. The wheel eliminates the button that were located in the lens barrel of the 5700 and 8700 coolpix models. The Vibration reduction option really makes it easier to use the digital zoom. The battery life has been greatly improved over the 5700 and 8700 coolpix models. The 10x optical zoom is the icing on the cake. After using the 8800 for a few months I have decided to sell my old heavy SLR and the lenses that go with it. Over all the coolpix 8800 is a great improvement over the Cooolpix 8700 model.

hmmmm... I looked at Nikon's before I bought my Minolta.. my one big complaint was that it would not take good macro shots. Very few digital cameras in the sub $300 range seem to be able to take good macro shots..

Serg, take a look at some of Canons digitals. I had a s200 (old school) and currently an s400 that both took fantastic macro shots.
