Is it a cable company supplied modem or have you bought it from a third party?

If it has hacked firmware on it you will need to access the settings and give it a mac address before it will work.

Hi,
Friend moved house and I took modem, cables etc prior to him locking up.
I was told that a cable modem can be re-programed to obtain 8 meg b-band and I was hoping I could find some-one who could help me do this
Thanks
TM

If it hasn't been modified, you need a RS232 interface to load the patched firmware. There are full details in the Haynes guide in the downloads. It's easy, but not simple, that's why I sell patched modems. If you want to try yourself, I do sell RS232 interfaces too

Look in the Lincsat's nick-nacks sticky
