I currently seem to have a problem with a wireless connection from my laptop which uses vista o/s and a linksys wrt54g router. The problem is when I am downloading films etc, after approx 20 mins to an hour the wireless connection is lost but at the same time I have another pc hardwired to the same router that uses XP o/s which seems to stay connected. Is there a clash between two different o/s using the same router or is there a problem with the wireless connection through vista connecting to the linksys router. Any help or advice much appreciated.

Hi shakeybakey
![]() Your Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G has a web browser-based configuration utility so try changing your channel also if your downloading (as you say 1 hour+) try to leave your Laptop close, static and alone, to my mind i would download to your Desktop Computer and just transfer (if you have a Lin-Q USB 2.0 bridge cable), this is very fast 480mb per second, there about £16 for a 3m one, i use one and you cant get much faster, see insert Ann X

Not much help I suppose but I had a similar problem when I had a desktop hardwired to a linksys router and a laptop running on wireless, although they were both running XP. Problem was only solved when my flatmate left taking the desktop with her
. Now with only wireless connections it's extremely reliable compared to my previous netgear one![]() |
