Question Hey all, few questions before buying a box

Hi, just joined here after being recommended to buy a eurovox from a mate at work and wanted to ask a few questions before parting with my cash.

First up I'm lead to believe the Eurovox Max V 2008 is a safe bet, is this right? Or is another type of box better (or are they all much the same?)

Are they pretty simple to set up? I've had a look around the forums here and found some good info but no specifics on connecting up splitters etc. Is this necessary / a good idea?

Lastly could anyone recommend a reputable place to buy one online as I gather the 'bay is not the best bet!

Cheers
Kev

Hi subs0nic.
I got my box last Thursday from the bay. dellzdealz is his name.
I have a splitter in the Omnibox which is the little brown box outside the house and i put that in there my self.
I then used my exisiting Coaxal cable from the aerial and changed the connector to an F Type. and plugged it in.
Got the box and got instructions on an A4 sheet of paper. I then plugged the tv line directly into it pure so i could do a power scan. I had all the channels at 80-82%. Put the splitter back in and it works all good with the broadband. Its best to have a cable service with Virgin Media such as TV or broadband.
It was soo easy to set up.
The channels were a pain in the arse but i just used Voxer and the Null Modem Cable to transfer the channel list and sort it all out.
I love it.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Had a look on ebay but that guy doesn't have anything listed at the moment it seems. I found it at Maxking :: Receivers :: Eurovox :: Eurovox Max V 2008 - is that a reasonable price?

I only have experience of the Eurovox that you are considering so dont know about others, its difficult to see how it could be bettered....its a great box both in looks and operation...its ridiculously easy to set up,all you do is plug it in and let it scan for the channels provided you have bought a box that has software pre installed ....you really should use a splitter to connect your existing set top box and the Eurovox,to ensure any talkback ....
If you send me an Email I will provide you with an 100% guaranteed named seller on Ebay who delivers overnight usually ...

A subscribed cable box talks back to the network. If this communication was to stop VM might get suspicious - I can supply all the splitters and cables you may need together with the box with software pre-installed
