Default Haynes Manual

Hi All,
Reading through manual trying to learn cable hacking.
Thanks to Lincsat doing not to badly.
Dont want to keep pestering him so I would like to start this thread with questions as I progress through manual if thats ok, Im sure it will also help others trying the same....

As far as I can see there are 3 main stages to hacking modem
1. Writing Firmware to Modem
2. Change Mac Address
3. Force Modem to Use Config File

Questions:

1 No questions as yet

2 DS Frequency - What is this and how do you obtain it etc
USB Mac Address - As Above

3. Am I correct in thinking the 250 Configurator prog will cange mac and force config file in 1 operation - if so then hacking the box can
be broken down into 2 stages

Thanks For any help
TM

Default Re: Haynes Manual

Cable internet uses different frequencies on different networks, the modems will usually scan all the frequencies stored in their memory, by setting the default frequency to the active frequency on your network, the startup process is speeded up and you get online much quicker.

The 250 Configurator will change mac, TFTP Address , force config file, set Default Freq and other parameters in 1 operation.
