Default considering modding my NTL modem

Hi all im new here so please go easy. ive been looking around the forum for the last couple of days and think i have a good idea how to go about modding my NTL 250 modem so that i can get the 20meg connection up and running.

Whats holding me back is one not having the RS232 interface, but i can get one through Lincsat's shop, and the hackwere; will i be able to get this from the downloads section once i get it unlocked. Whats realy holding be back though is the worry that NTL will be able to tell that im getting way to much speed for the package im on, and ask for a shed load of cash from me.

So if i do mod my modem what are the chanses of been found out, and what are the consiquences.

I wouldn't recommend modding your subscribed modem, it is NTL's property and would be easy to trace. My understanding is that VM are currently turning a blind eye to single modem hacking, but potentially, they could disconnect you from the network.

When hacking first appeared a few years ago, some 200 NTL subscribers were banned from the network for 2 weeks.

Hay lincsat nice to meet you. I currently have two NTL modems my subscirber modem, which is a gray 200 and the one from my ex stdent digs which is a 250. I was planning to mod the 250 as i hear that its easier, and also this modem was never registed with ntl in my name. Whats your opinion on this, and to all the other people out there who have hacked ntl 250's how long have you been running with it. For those people who have been court by ntl using modded modems, what were the consequences

ok I've taken a look at the files in the download section, and was wanting some clarification on which one's to use. Is is the 250hacks file i use for a ntl 250 modem or the 250 configorator fixed files.

The 250 hacks to change the firmware and the 250 config to set it up once you've changed the firmware.

You should be OK to use that 250 if it's never been registered in your name.
