Hi DrGizmondo

The distance from your Computer from the Exchange will make a difference as to your speed also some security applications can slow your speed "eg some Firewalls", so its worth turning some things off just as an experiment to see if some of your applications are having a blocking effect then its a case of trying replacement applications to improve your speed.

Try this type your IP address in to your browser address bar and you should see your connection settings via Router and within you will have your line speed that your Router is receiving and that is what you should be getting, see insert

This is mine and i get around 7 to 7½Mb, but my Exchange is quite close.

Ann

I currently have several connections here, Cable, Wireless and ADSL - thought you might like to see my ADSL speed, this is ADSL Max premium AKA OfficeMAX and NOT ADSL2

Just thinking DrGizmondo if you can post your connection type, Router / Modem, ISP and the security you use maybe we can work on improving your speed

Ann.
