Default How do I find my symbol rate?

Hi Everyone,

I have a Eurovox MAX V 2008 box. The instructions that came with the box I followed to the letter. It said to do a powerscan on symbol rate 6950 and only if no channels came back at all then I should do a normal scan on symbol rate 6887.

I do receive about 200 channels after I did the powerscan on symbol rate 6950, however I'm now almost certain this rate is'nt right for my area (Wearside NETID 41054 from the STB). I have some channels missing like Setanta 2, Setanta golf and Sky Sports Xtra.

In the STB does anyone know how I find what the Symbol rate is set to? Also, will I be able to re-poserscan the Eurovox on the new rate without it screwing up - I've read some threads where people have had trouble when they've done this.

Many Thanks,

Have a look here m8, its the last 4 numbers you want 6952 or 6887
List of Net Id's for Cable TV
its saying 6887 for your area and as youve got 200+ channels your probably just missing a couple of transponders.
To check what its scanning on go into installation and press yellow for "power scan" and it will tell you what symbol rate its set to (dont press ok or it will powerscan).
Did you change the mode from normal to full before you scanned? if you didnt do this it wont find all transponders

To change the symbol rate youll need to do a factory reset to the other one.

Hi Ronster,

Yeah I changed the scan from a normal to a full when I first did the powerscan - it picked up what looks like 32 transponders. The problem is it defaulted to symbol rate 6950 which I don't think is right, however the instructions told me to do that.

Here's a copy of the instructions:

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE PLUGGING THE BOX IN!

Hi there and many thanks for the purchase!!
You are just a short step away from receiving approx 200 to 250 free channels from your cable provider. Your box is preloaded with a firware image already and so all that is needed to gain the full channel potential in your area is a simple scan of the channels available. This is to your advantage as the scan will uncover extra channels than you would receive if you don't do the scan (If you're unsure then please contact us by email).

Please note if you are using a splitter in your setup this must be removed for the inital powerscan as the box needs to scan from a pure signal - this will ensure all channels being found.

Scanning through a splitter can result in the loss of 50+ channels.

Firstly and before you start to scan the box you need to:-
Press Menu
Go to Config
Go to Clear data
Select erase all channels

That you need to do now is a POWERSCAN, and the following is a step by step method of carrying it out!

Press the Menu button
Go to INSTALLATION and right arrow to USER INSTALLATION (press ok)
Type in your PIN (0000)
Press the Yellow button for POWERSCAN and change the mode to FULL from normal by arrowing right to FULL.
Now press OK. This will begin the bruteforce powerscan which can take upto 40 minutes, but is guranteed to find every single channel on the network in your area.
Once done the box will switch to a random channel to indicate it has finished!
You will now have around 240 or more channels (in some cases regions can receive up to 330 channels!)

You now need to switch to a non free channel (i.e. Sky sports or movies etc) and let the box update the codes, this should take a minute or two, it will indicate on the screen "updating please wait", once finished all channels will be unlocked.

That's it...you're all done.....HOWEVER....If you find that you get "no channels at all" there is a further adjustment you can make to ensure you get the 250 plus channels that your area box is able to receive and again it's quite simple to do.

First press MENU
Then go to USER INSTALLATION
Type in your PIN (0000)
Pree the YELLOW button for a POWERSCAN
Then change the mode to NORMAL
Then arrow down to the SYMBOL RATE and if its on 6952 then change it to 6887 (or vice versa).

Then press OK and it will carry out the powerscan of before.
If after you have tried this and you still are channels short then keep the symbol rate at the new figure but adjust the scan to FULL and try again.

--------------

The instructions are pretty concise - and I hav'nt done a NORMAL power scan on 6887 because I actually receive around 200 channels, but I'm missing SETANTA2 and a few others which I may have foggotten about.

Can I just do another powerscan on symbol rate 6887 and hope all the channels come in and the box does'nt screw up?

Regards,

McGeezer
