I am in the process of setting up my box, but wish to continue to use my HD recorder to record and play DVD's.
Having read a few threads some have indicated this may affect the eurovox box, which will stop it working. I can't see how, but does anyone know of this happening. In simple terms which is the most appropriate way to connect my eurovox and HD to the tv i.e. where does the cable in go and scarts etc. All help appreciated. Thanks |

Hiya, Your box and DVD recorder will work together no problem I myself do it daily, the cable in goes into the back of the Eurovox, and on the back of that you have two scart connection points and the same on your DVD recorder they should all be clearly labelled,as to where they go,and also in your box manual there are images of how these connections are made...you cant really go wrong, but if you have any more questions about this dont hesitate to post back here .....

Depends on your set up, but I pressume you may have an external 'terestrial' aerial going in to your DVD recorder -thats the EPG it uses. Your EVox will use the cable EPG. One box cannot use the other's EPG independently.
If you wish to record off your Evox on to your DVD recorder then you need to set it for manual time record - like an old VCR. As far as I am aware you cannot use EPG driven recording beteen the 2 units. Hope this helps Rick |

Thanks Rick, without sounding thick, from your post it seems possible to have a cable and digitial connection (from aerial) all connected to the one tv, but will only be able to record to the HD via the digital aerial, which is all I want to be able to do. Any chance of a summary as to where all the cables and scarts go for the eurovox, dvd hd and tv.
cheers |

Its not possible to give a firm answer to this as everyones set up procedure can be different, if I want to record from the Eurovox say throught the night or sometime Im not there I set the timer on the Euro for the chosen programme (time, length etc? this will then set the Euro to switch to that channel at the chosen times ...I then need to set up the DVD recorder to record at those same times ....the important bit is to make sure the DVD recorder is going to record from the Euro ....for instance when I turn on the timer function on my DVD rec. it asks for the programme source and lists ch1,2,3,4 and 5 (which are the programmes its stored in its memory) and also lists scart which is what I have to click on if I want to record from the Euro ....you could of course just set the DVD to record and just leave the Euro switched on the channel you want to record (its easier that way)

On its own the Eurovox will only control a VCR through the EPG timer function. If you want it to control a DVD/HDD Recorder you will need to purchase a Phantom-Plus made by Blue Delta, this device uses a pass through scart connector which is connected to an infra red blaster & basically what you do is teach it the commands (up to 6 from switch on) that your recorder uses to switch on, change channel/input, record, stop & switch off again. Maplins had it on sale for about £19.

I have a Tivo & it is useless as the channel EPG is different to the Eurovox & there is no way alter the channel line up, so you have to use the manual timer method.
