Default Dbox2 hanging in Sportster screen on boot up

Hi all,

I am reasonably new to all this and have a Nokia Dbox2.
In my wisdom i tried updating the sportster image via flash ftp as i could not get to y-web in anyway.
The problem is i think i tried putting the image in the wrong place and now when i boot up i just get the sportster page and the dbox2 screen says loading kernel.
This just hangs there and i cannot do anything......

Does anybody have any help for me please?

Many thanks
Phil

That's unusual - normally a bad flash will result in keine image. You may have to use IFA (Image Flash Assistant) to reflash an image onto the box

OK i'll give that a go but i couldn't even connect to the box with flash ftp to move the file.

To use IFA you need to physically connect your Dbox directly to a computer via crossover ethernet cable and a null modem cable.
IFA should be a breeze to use - but if it doesn't work as it should then it's a case of mixing black magic and blind faith to make it function.

IFA will not ping the box.......................
I am only using an ethernet crossover cable, do i need a RS232 aswell then?

It is normal for IFA NOT to be able to ping the Dbox so don't worry.
I believe using an RS232 enables the output from the Dbox to be viewed on your laptop / pc. You will most likely need a USB - UART connection as modern laptops don't have serial ports anymore.
