Help - trying to JTAG bricked blue Eurovox

Although my box does not appear to be a clone in any way shape or form, tinkering as I do with these things, I updated it with the June software. The box worked for about 8 hours and then died.

Having looked through various threads here, I recently bought a buffered JTAG repair kit for the Eurovox which came with a disc that contained a SkyMaxUp program.

My PC only has USB ports, so I also purchased an DB25 to USB adaptor. I connected up the JTAG as instructed (using the adaptor) and the box is powered up (standby light and two dots on display).

I launched the SkyMaxUp program, selected 2MB (7FE00000) and clicked on START but the following message is appearing:

Init JTAG
IDCDE : FFFFFFFF
Fail DCU, Please Restart or Reset CPU Box

I have tried unplugging the Eurovox, resetting the Eurovox and restarting my PC whilst all connected up but the message is still appearing the same. I have even tried using different USB ports on my PC although I already know they all work but to no avail.

I would really appreciate someones help on this or if anyone out there has different software that worked for them?

try jkeys see if that connects your problem will be the usb adaptor I think

jkeys?? never heard of it - what where and how would I use it?

jkeys is a programme like skymax and are needed to fix redboxes and original blues

I see jkeys.rar in FTA Downloads and excuse my ineptitude but how do I extract a .rar file?

your problem is probably the usb adapter its always better to use a PCI card
got this from another forum as flashing original blue boxes is different to red and clones.

Aparantly, some of the Eurovox Max boxes have Intel chips which have a sector lock on them so to jtag you have to follow a special procedure to first unlock the flash.

Connect JTAG and Power up EuroVox

Start JKEYS

Click on "Development Panel"
Click OK to ingore the warning.

** SEE BELOW IF YOU GET AN ERROR HERE **

If all goes well you will get into the development panel.

In the user functions box:

Type in the address: 80000000
Click on "Load to . . ."

Select the file "unlock_28FxxxC3.bin"

Click "Trigger User"

Close the current window.

Click on "Flash Programming"

Choose the model number as: DXD426RD (1 Chip-GLA)


In the section on the right:

Leave the box above set to "Full"

Click "Erase"

Select YES. This will take a minute to erase.

Click on "Program"

Select YES to "Program at address 0x7FE00000, size 0x200000?"

Choose your TSOP file (I use "2007tsop.bin" for the EuroVox RED 2007 with Intel chip.

Sit and wait for OK to become active, then click it.

Close JKEYS and power the box down.

Disconnect your JTAG

Power the box on. If all has gone well then it should boot up ready for you to rescan for your channels.

Power the box down and run SkyMax v2.2
Power the box up
Press start.

This seems to reset the box when JKEYS cannot connect (DCU errors).

Close SkyMax and start JKEYS and try again.


I do not know of 2007tsop.bin has any nasty affect on clones or not ... I just know it works immediatly. If in doubt you can now reflash your box with a firmware of your choice using serial cable & dnupman.

This method should also work with EuroVox BLUE with Intel chips.

right click on the rar file then select "extract here"

the clone can be fixed with skymax and jtag but original blue and red need jkeys ,I also found that problems connecting via jkeys can be overcome if you start and connect with skymax then exits then connect with jkeys.like everything else its easy once you know how

Hey guys appreciating your help here!

Have downloaded jkeys.rar and a trial version of WinRAR. When I extract the file I get the following msg:

! C:\Documents and Settings\Downloads\Jkeys.rar: Invalid or corrupt authenticity information

Methinks I am missing something as the only files extracted are the ReadMe and the DEF files
