Hi All,
I had problem with my home pc last night - would not start up. Right I said as if I knew what I was doing lol I will connect my laptop directly to modem using Lan / ECard and ask you guys for help sugestions but laptop would not connect to internet. Moved PC the previous night so my wireless router had not been fitted yet. In case of future problems I have a few questions: 1. Why would laptop not work connected to modem directly, do I need to run ntl set up disc on laptop to use direct connection to modem. 2. Will any set up disc do this as I havent seen my disc for about 3 years. Thanks Again TM |

When you connected the laptop, did you re-boot the modem?
Cable modems pair themselves with the Network device they are connected to, you need to reboot the modem to get it to pair with any different network device. You also need to ensure that the network connections in the laptop are set automatically receive IP addresses and DNS server details - they should be set as that by default. |
