I had 2 Max_V Black Eurovox die on me, I did'nt really want to return them to the seller as I would be posting overseas at a cost to myself and then I would have a time delay in getting replacements. Answer was to try and Jtag one of them to see if it could be done, if not then the postman was going to get an extra delivery.
Anyway I got them both working - after a bit of trial and error - see below for instructions: Flash with Tsop file for Red Eurovox “V_MAX__RED_07”, this puts Version 1.20 on the box. Use DnUpMan to update this to the “02_07_07.bin” file. There is a problem with the Jtag file which prevents the output being displayed using the Scart lead, it also has the TV output channel tuned to channel 170 and has a request to enter a PIN number before allowing access to the box, but we can get over that by following the instructions below. 1)Connect Eurovox to TV using TV/VCR aerial connection on back of box (marked No 9, page 2 of manual). 2)Plug Eurovox into mains and switch on. 3)Tune your TV into channel 170. 4)You will see a request to enter a PIN – use the master PIN 1004. 5)Enter Menu and go to ‘Config’. 6)Go to ‘Clear Data’. 7)Enter PIN – 1004 8)Go to ‘Factory Default’, click OK. 9)Click on your Symbol rate, either Symbolrate(6887) or Symbolrate(6952) and OK that. 10)Click OK when the warning comes up. 11)Exit and then load your ‘Channel File’. That’s it your box is now back to life. D |

Tried this method on one box I had and it worked almost fine.
Got the box alive again but couldn't load the box with the critical update. kept getting the message "this firmware is not fit for this box" so I'm stuck with the original firmware until the new tsop is released. Not a total disaster as the box still works for now. |

I haven't had to do any of this so I am not sure but the first thing that popped into my head wqhen reading about your problem getting the critical update onto your box is that you have set your black box up as a red box. The critical update doesn't work with the red box and is blocking an update.
Couldn't you after jtagging your box, try to update it with an older black box firmware such as the july firmware. This may re-establish your black boxes identity helping you to install the critical update. |
