Default Re: New Box Arnet - Kryptview

heres a review of the box from another site

Right got mine in today ... I've been playing around with it and here's my review (for what it's worth ..lol):

Cosmetically the box looks OK, Nice silver casing with a clear Digital channel display.

Remote is Ok does the work it's supposed to i guess .. i really like the picture freeze feature. The only problem with the remote is that there isn't a dedicated 'favourites' button .... ("RED BUTTON" I hear you shout ..lol) yes there is the red button but it isn't labelled as 'favourites' if you know what I mean. Also there are only 5 Favourite channels as opposed to the 8 that we can get with the Eurovox ... this means that you have to double/triple up on categories ... for example I have set my favourites so that my categories read as:

1- ASIAN/KIDS
2- ENTERTAINMENT/NEWS/DOCUMENTRIES
3- SPORTS
4- MOVIES/MUSIC
5- ADULT

this is an issue I am sure the developers will be looking at to improve.

On a plus point we have working text/subtitles ...yippeee .. something that the eurovox was definately lacking ...

Picture quality is excellent with no freezing and widescreen aspect almost perfect (100 times better than eurovox).

EPG is absolutly brilliant .. other boxes i have tested sometimes have problem showing what's on next ... the Kryptview shows full listings for next 7 days ... and lets you set a reminder just like an original STB ... The only thing I would say is that it would be even better if channel could be viewed at the same time.

Ease of Use: 7/10 (users of eurovox/starview may find this box easy ..but i can definately see new users having difficulties in programming/setup of the box)

Value for Money: 8/10 (but then I'm a cheapskate .. lol always want everything for free)

Picture Quality: 9/10 (best I've seen on a non-official box)

Support: To Be Rated (too early to tell ... but must be said that there are some really big names behind it ... for now!)

Overall rating: 8/10

Improvements/recommendations:

1- Favourites Button Clearly Marked on Remote ... oh and possibly have the remote in silver casing to match box ... (currently in black)
2- Favourites Grouping increase from 5 to maybe 8 or 10
3- Make Channel view possible whilst in EPG mode

As a note to traders it may be a good touch to include a null modem lead and software cd in the box

Regards

yes great box, easy to use, good picture scanning etc. Like i have said i have scanned and re-scanned my box and i do get the program infomation to start off with but then it disappears after a while. Example rescanned today got probly about 99% of all program info, left it for less then an hour and half checked it and lost about 95% of program info it had started with.
I have no complaints about the box apart from this and to be honest it may be just a glitch in my box and these things happen to almost all things.
I have spoken to the guy i got it off and hes been pretty good about it and is going to send me another box to try out.

UPDATE
everythings working now i rescanned networks etc yesterday evening went into EPG the channels appeared then the program infomation started appearing, ok i thought i have been here before so left it an hour or so as usually it disappears again, checked it and the info is still there, and as of writing this 24 hrs later info still in place
Must have been one of those gremlin things

My opinion of this box for what my opinion is worth is that it really is a good easy box to use and it may be my eyes but the picture quality appears to be better than my original (maybe just my eyes )
I have never had any other boxes i.e. dbox etc so cannot comment on those but if i would recommend this box.
