Angry Eurovox Max 2008 Freezing Signal Dropping Out

hi all
i invested in a eurovox max 2008 with the september update. i am running it on v***in m**ia with the basic package and broadband internet. now i removed the splitter from the outside box and installed the box. now the picture keeps freezing and displaying no signal. for the odd moment its on it works a treat. i have read that the signal may be too strong! where can i get hold of a attenuator quickly if i need one and is there a possibility the signal is too weak? also i notice maplin do a attenuator with coax connectors can i add a couple of coax adaptors as i have f connectors. any help would be brillant as this is really doing my head in and it nearly ended up through the window.

cheers

I seem to remember posts in one of the forums here where someone had problems when altering the cable splitter outside his house - it may help you if you find it.
I have such a splitter on my house for upstairs. I set up my eurovox max 2008 downstairs by having just this box connected (disconnecting my original box) and following the supplied instructions then using a good quality splitter having both boxes connected and switched on. Ive had the eurovox running for almost 2 months with no problems. I reconnected my old box because I think VM can detect its presence (or lack of it).
Hope this helps

Cheers

i have just remembered as well. the signal strength is 70%-80% max. when it freezes and drops out it shoots down to around 5%. i had a 6dB attenuator and when i put this on the signal got slightly better i think. i have tried everyway doing full power searches with every conbination i.e. no splitter outside, with splitter outside but diconnected broadband, with splitter outside and everything connected. someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
