Default Blue Eurovox JTAG Problems

Help,

I have a bricked Eurovox Blue Box which I am trying to JTAG.

When I use skymax I get a "DCU error" and it does not work!

I have now tried using jkeys but "development panel" is not active

Can anyone help?

I am using the LPT1 connector on the back of my laptop to connect, is this OK?

This is really turning into a nightmare now........

Default Re: Blue Eurovox JTAG Problems

Hi,
Not sure about the laptop but using a pc, about 4 months of trying and loads of forum help here is what I did.

My eurovox blue was stuck in stand by....no led lights just stand by.

1. Connected the Jtag.
2. Re-booted into the BIOS then made sure that in the BIOS the parallel port was active and it was set to
set to EPP mode and 0378.
3. I then restarted the pc and right clicked on Jkeys set it to win 98 compatible.I then went into Jkeys properties and made sure that parallel port was selected and that 0378 was also chosen.
4. Restarted Jkeys and it then let me into the development panel.

Now do the following -

Just Follow This Guide By SunRise Who is the one to be thanked not me:

Click on "Development Panel"
Click OK to ignore the warning.

** SEE BELOW IF YOU GET AN ERROR HERE **

If all goes well you will get into the development panel.

In the user functions box:

Type in the address: 80000000
Click on "Load to . . ."

Select the file "unlock_28FxxxC3.bin"

Click "Trigger User"

Close the current window.

Click on "Flash Programming"

Choose the model number as: DXD426RD (1 Chip-GLA)

In the section on the right:

Leave the box above set to "Full"

Click "Erase"

Select YES. This will take a minute to erase.

Click on "Program"

Select YES to "Program at address 0x7FE00000, size 0x200000?"

Choose your TSOP file (whatever one you have).

Sit and wait for OK to become active, then click it.

Close JKEYS and power the box down.

Disconnect your JTAG

Power the box on. If all has gone well then it should boot up ready for you to rescan for your channels.

This worked a treat for me and flashed the box straight away.

To upload the firmware it was a bit tricky to work out and I am not sure why but this is what worked for me -

1. Connect Null to pc and box and restart pc and get into the BIOS.
2. Change back from EPP to SPP.
3. Boot up pc and then (not sure if this had anything to do with it or just luck) I went into device manager and I noticed that PCI simple communications port (no idea what it is) driver was not installed. I figured what the hell and installed it.
4. Opened voxer and it found the box straight away.

If anyone can enlighten me as to wether the PCI port thing had anything to do with it I would be gratefull!

If you have trouble when tring to powerscan and keep getting a green screen do the following -

press menu
go to config
go clear data
enter pin 0000( or you may have to enter the pin you set)
go to factory default
press right arrow
choose your area(tw,ntl,cw)
6.887 for ntl 6.952 for telewest or cw
press ok
press ok for channel scan
it will take 20 t0 30 mins

Hope this helps and I want to thank everyone for their help with this I really appreciate it!

Cheers,
Al

The JTag isnt the great saviour everyone is claiming it to be, yes it does work for some problems but not all, any number of things could be wrong with the box. Ive got 1 that ive tried for about 5 days, i can get into Development panel and flash programming but it still doesnt work.
And yes before anyone asks it is stuck in stand by and not completely dead, i guess what im trying to say is................................ If it dont work sometimes spares are all their good for.

Its not fair i never win any money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just thought i'd try this as ive just fixed that blue box ive been messing with for 2 weeks, right after posting this message.
