Default New Hard Drive Gone By-By

Hi All,
Hard drive finaly went to hard drive heven.
Problem is it was my c:drive.
I have advent pc with 2 160 HDs.
If I renew c: drive and load in recovery disc will this have all the original software etc or can I just remove bad drive and load disc into d: drive.
I was going to give it a try last night but I thought I would ask for advice first.
Thanks
TM

Sorry honey but the recovery only accesses the hidden partition on the HDD you had installed as you are replacing the HDD you may need to check with your Computer makers as i believe you will need to install a OS on the new HDD and to get your OS back maybe have to buy the HDD from them, or you might be able to install your own new OS, best to contact them first "Note on some HP Computers the HDD and Motherboard were what is called Tattooed, I'm not sure about advent" so please do check.

100% correct there, there is a way to remove this security feature, i heard if you upgrade the firmware of the compnents using the manufacturers website then this "pairing" will be broken
