will this be a new version of the console or is it just a new chip to stop the Red ring of death and overheatin problems.? if it is a new chip do u think microsoft will put them in consoles that are sent in for repairs which still have the 90nm processors.

Well the Red ring of death the dreaded Xbox 360 3 flashing red lights, error caused by poor BGA connections of the CPU and GPU this is a different chip and Microsoft have use an epoxy surrounding the CPU and GPU which is intended to prevent the BGA connection from popping as the board warps not the best solution i would have thought also making it impossible as ever to change the components your self, why cant Microsoft use a socket design so owners can upgrade them selves. I do think a spring clipped socket would be better then the Microsoft epoxy idea ! just looks a bodg to me cheep solution !

Hi all,

I found this that helped me.

I crudly used a Black and Decker 1400W paint stripper lol

but it worked, be careful not to damaged the capacitors surrounding the cpu and be extreamly careful not to over heat the board.

Not sure how long the xbox 360 will last before it goes again, without moding it.
But for now the 3 red ring of death have been averted.

There are various versions on the net how to fix it but the best one is to send it back to MS and get them to repair it. They add a heat exchanger in and also a few other mods but i would just buy a new one because the falcon version that is out runs alot cooler than the older versions. MS will repair your console with the 3 red lights for 3 years after purchase BUT and this is a big BUT if you have been banned from LIVE then forget it as you have modded the console and they will not want to know which is fare enough if you think about it. DO NOT USE THE TOWEL TRICK to try and fix the console you will make it work for a few days and thats it back to the red lights again. And it will cause alot more damage to the board so its not worth it.

Hi as the guy says above just contact ms my friends son's 360 got the red rings the console had been played to death 15mths old ms modded it a with new a chipand retunred the original but please be aware they dont always send your original console back to you if they stock of other repaired console they just swopped them and some of them are in a right state scatched marked etc. if its a right state just complain sometimes it works but they have sent you a working console thats out of its original warranty if thats the case good luck info to sent back on ms site.
