Webstar epc2100

I was supplied with this modem when i signed up to v.m. Im signed up to the 4Mb package. I also have a spare one which i wondered if theres anything i can do with. Ive looked through the tutorials i could find and im not keen on messing with the one ive got running. I was hoping for a faster connecton or even just 4mb on my spare modem aswell. Id really appreciate any replies. cheers.

you will need to get the modem unlocked m8,there is software to do it and then you will need the cables to connect to it to flash it and so on and so on.better off to buy a modded modem then all the works done for you.all you need then is a working mac from someone not in your ubr area,and away you go.....hope this helps.

you need this pack for a, 'Scientific Atlanta' 'Webstar 2100'
rev.2 is the better one to flash i think. i done mine recently

its the Ultimate 250 pack
its for Ambit-250 (ntl-250) but works with webstar2100, the circuit board looks very similar
also should work with Motorola sb5101

you will need a rs232 interface circuit, so easy to make, get a max233 chip from maplin, its so easy.
just read the haynes modem hack guide, then watch the video, and everything will be clear, everything you need is in this pack and more, you wont need to get anything else, its all in the pack.
quite a few things you may not use but are there if you need them

just make sure when you load the file to the modem, you have the rs232 cable wired up to the modem, and you have the network cable plugged in the modem to the pc. i forgot the network cable and was wondering why nothing worked.
note: if the bootup in hyperterm is getting stuck change the com port setting 'flow control', between 'hardware' and 'none'

I do this like in the tutorial and after I insert new .bin file, I reset my modem and when it powered up and start scaning freq. just stop working.
now just blink ones pc lamp and nothing hapends...
I can not flash it begin because I can't in in program mode... in hyper terminal just shows model of procesor and some kind of serial nomber I guess...
Please help me to make my modem work again!!!

**AT THIS POINT
you should be connecting using your ethernet cable and not the rs232 lead, you can switch off and unplug the rs232 lead and close the hyperterm

Set the LAN card back to dynamic IP and Gateway buy going into network connections and minimize.
Now reboot the modem.(still no cable feed yet) Give it a minute to power up.


Now start a new copy of HyperTerminal, this time change the port to TCP/IP (Winsock)
In the Host address box enter 192.168.100.1
Leave the port number as 23
Once running you should get this below:
Broadcom Corporation ...........???

Login: admin (press enter)
password: infinite (press enter
and then you should be able to login
and it will start scanning

follow the 250 tutorial, the webstar one is not as detailed
