Hi everyone,
Newbie here - I've had one of these boxes for a good few months with no probs at all. Yesterday however, the channel had frozen with the info bar at the top of the screen, but wouldn't change channel. Unplugged at the mains (which normally does the trick) but now I just have the Standby red light on, but there's nothing I can do to get it to come back on. Is it dead? Any ideas greatly appreciated! Cheers Chris |

Although it could be anything that is causing your problem,it does seem to be like so many we have seen posted on here before, and there is now a device available that can recover these dead boxes...dont know if you want to give it a try or not,but you can read about it here EUROVOX - Jtag(buffered) recover your dead box - eBay Cable Boxes, Satellite Cable Freeview, Consumer Electronics (end time 14-Oct-07 21:36:03 BST)

Very many thanks Telecom69. I followed the link you kindly provided, but it all looks a bit complicated. It says "no soldering" which to me is as off-putting as "plug and play" - it means the bloody opposite!
I haven't a clue what it is, but I do know that I haven't updated it since I bought it, mainly because I wasn't aware it was updateable! So when the seller refers to the June update sabotaging the unit, I'm baffled. (Not difficult) So, if there's a website that explains a bit about the jtag wotsit, I'd be grateful for a link - and sorry to be a drain on patience and resources. I'll explore this site even more to check this out, and meanwhile, thanks again for your help Cheers Chris |

Firtly you are not a drain on patience and resources
as this is what this site is about, helping people,no matter how long it takes, I dont know of any tutorials on how to do this operation as no-one yet has posted one in simple terms...however I did find this thread How to Jtag a Black EurovoxFrom what I have read about this product it comes with full instructions on a CD on how to use it,and no technical knowledge is required,if you want to know more you could always send a PM to the writer of this article, who Im sure would help you out....Just hope you can get it going again ![]() |

You're a gentleman, sir. Many thanks, very much appreciated.
I bought the unit from Bowlers, Trafford Park, so I might take it back to him first. See if he is clued up on the problem, which looks as though is quite widespread. Failing that, I'll follow your advice and buy the silver bullet from eBay. Again, thanks for your time and kindness. Best wishes Chris |
