I had a similar problem a while back, with a 6 port external powered USB HUb and a Lexmark MFP. I upgraded to an EVGA 680 SLI mobo and Core2duo platform, the system failed to post with these devices connected - no beep code either. Swapped the EVGA for an MSIO 680 SLI and same problem.. Sent the MSI back for an ASUS commando and same problem again despite a difference chipset. Also found that these devices had the same effect on a Dell Core2Duo system that I have. Dell swapped out the motherboard once and then pinned the blame on the 2 USB devices which worked perfectly well will the older motherboards.
