Default being caught with modded modem

hi, my girlfriend has been back at work for a few days now (works for telewest bbi or thats what it was called when she was last there) and she was told if you use a modded modem they could trace you because of a "talkback" facility

iv been using mine, well i say mine, i bought it for my neighbour and ran a cable from his bit to mine for my starview and wireless for the laptop, for a few months now and quite like 20meg bb (or thereabouts) but im getting worried about being caught

i know you cant be caught using a starview but can you be with a modded modem?

if so whats the best way to minimise you chances of being caught?

thanks all in advance

dont tell anyone anything, dont even brag about it, and if someone comes knocking on your door, just act totally dub and say you bought it from a guy at the pub or flea market

Obviously, don't access your VM account (including E-Mail, FTP etc) from a Hacked Modem.
