Hi maddad, I am completely new to this forum but I have a lot of Dreambox experience. I assume you have a recent image in the flash memory and I would recommend you fit a usb memory stick and put additional images on that.
The usb stick allows you to try out different images without fouling up your base image. Which image are you using at present? I have a 7000 and at the moment am using Colosseum, Satandream, Gemini 4, EDG and several others. The usb stick allows me to change images quickly for trial purposes. |

You are better to install it on a USB stick rather than on the HDD. When running the image from the HDD granted it does work but as the HDD is constantly running its going to wear out a hell of a lot quicker and probably use more power to boot
![]() I can recommend the Kingston DataTraveller 512mb & 256mb USB stick to use. They are dirt cheap and the majority of Dreamboxes seem to get on with them. Traxdata ones don't seem to work with mine so that may be worth avoiding ![]() As for images i am using Gemini 4.00, Powerboard Enigma1 & PLi Helenite. I've found they are all fairly stable images which work well off the USB stick. If you are thinking of using one of the Nabilosat images by personnal preference i wouldn't use anyone past release 0.6 as i found them about as stable as The middle east peace process beyond release 0.6 ![]() If you want any help just ask mate and i'll do my best to help you. If you get really stuck i can do you an image backup from my box to get you going. I have loads of images on my PC including S.I.F, Nabilosat, PLI, Powerboard, Colloseum, Polar, Nemesis & SatLinux In the meantime you can't go wrong listening to Jim, He taught me everything i know ![]() Cheers Nano |

As Nano says, you are far better off installing images and swap file on a usb stick. That way you are not running the hard drive continuously and there is less chance of corrupting the image and losing films and music that you may have on the hard drive.
My current favourite image is the Satandream-sp-ed-V6. It has a huge number of direct downloads so it is easy for newcomers to learn on. I would recommend to anyone unfamiliar with the dreambox that they use FlashWizard to load/manipulate images and FlashFXP to transfer and read files. Basic commands like changing passwords can be done using the telnet command in a dos terminal window. I know that there are a few programmes like DCC but they dont actually show you what is going on when you change things on the Dreambox. |

Hi supermario, nice to see you have come over to Techwatch.
Just to update things, I put a list of current images for the 7000s that I am using into the Dreambox receivers section. Those 7000 images can also be used on the usb stck in a 7020 although some of the images have 7020 specific vesions available. Most of the images have downloadable emus although it is worthwhile learning how to install them manually just for fun's sake.

Thanks M8 for the info.
I am like a big-boy playing here and there, trying to get as much info as possible. This Satworld is like a big puzzle with lots of sites here and there. Many a times there isnt enough time to visit everywhere! B-t-w, I dont forget the good friends who helped me initially like a child holding my finger and showing me the way - Satellitehelp.co.uk is one of them with nice and friendly mates. I am here on and off on TechWatch to see our old and new friends - lol. K/Rgds Supermario
