cant boot from disk
My pc is infected by a virus and has destroyed most of ma system files, it doesnt allow me to install anything. I figured the best thing is to re-install XP again, in the process formating the harddisk. the problem is I cant boot the machine from the disk. I get the choice of how I want to boot ma system but when I select cd-rom it just starts windows.

Have you gone into your bios and told your machine to try to boot from your cd drive first? When you boot your machine, it should say something along the lines of "hit <some key> to enter setup". That will take you to your bios.
