Can you provide info on what video editing software comes with the Sony HC7? Any comments on its features as compared to other products such as Adobe Premiere?

Sony Vegas Platinum is what I use. For $130 it delivers. Editing plus DVD authoring. Not bad.

I've seen clips of Canon HV 10 and the noise is less noticeable.

That's right! Sony Vegas is very good software for video editing. It contains full support for HDV.
