Well, HV10 has a "Canon" look to it, while HC7 has a "Sony" look to it.

I mean Canon has deeper (more filmic) color, less color noise, and its noise is not blotchy like HC7.

Default Colour balance tip

If your video camera doesn't have as much colour balance / temperature control as you like, but it DOES have a button to recalibrate the colour to a full frame grey card or white sheet, then try different tints of sheets to FORCE it to swing one way of the other. I've got an HC7 and am battling trying to get some warmth into the picture. The WB shift is too fine a control and the AUTO bal is always a bit too cold. (blue).

i have used both the canon and the sony and have found that the canon has a much worse clarity in poor light conditions.

HV-10 and HC7 are almost same in overall image quality(HV-10 maybe deeper colours)but me as design freak I would go with HV-10.It look and feel fantastic!!
